Principal of Kepong tahfiz nabbed for allegedly sodomising nine students

KUALA LUMPUR: The principal of a tahfiz centre in Kepong here was arrested by police yesterday on suspicion of sodomising nine of his students.

The 30-year-old was nabbed one day after a teacher at the centre lodged a police report against him.

It is learnt that the alleged victims are aged between 11 and 16.

“The tahfiz students informed the complainant about (alleged sexual abuse) by the principal.

“The suspect is believed to have molested and sodomised all the victims, and the case is being investigated under Section 14 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017,” Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Datuk Zainuddin Yaacop said.

According to police sources, all nine students were taken to the Kuala Lumpur Contingent Police headquarters to have their statements recorded, before being sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for examination.

The students have since been sent home to their families.

Meanwhile, Zainuddin urged members of the public with any information on the case to contact the police.
