HULU SELANGOR: An ustaz at a tahfiz centre in Batang Kali suspected of sexual offences against three underage male students was arrested at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport yesterday — just before he was to fly out to perform an umrah.
District police chief Superintendent Ahmad Faizal Tahrim said the 26-year-old was detained following investigations into reports lodged by three students aged between 8 and 11.
He said a team of Criminal Investigation Department policemen about 10.45pm.
"A check revealed that the suspect has no previous criminal record. All the victims involved are students of the suspect at the tahfiz school," he said.
Faizal said the case was being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017.
It is understood that the offences have been going on for two years.
