British husband knifed to death, wife arrested

LANGKAWI: A British national died from stab wounds on his right chest, believed to be inflicted from his wife following an altercation at their home here, early this morning.

The body of John William Jones, 62, was found in the living room of his house at Kampung Gelam, Mukim Kedawang at 2.15am.

Langkawi Superintendent Police Superintendent Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said that during the incident, only the husband and wife were in the bungalow house which have been their home for 11 years.

"We have arrested on the victim's wife, who is also a British citizen, at the scene and seized the knife believed to have been used by the suspect in the incident.

"Initial investigations revealed that the incident was due to a domestic squabble," he said when contacted here, today.

Mohd Iqbal said the 62-year-old suspect was taken to the Alor Setar Court to be remanded.

The body was then sent to Alor Setar Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) for a post-mortem and the case was investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
