TH senior management officer remanded for 4 days over graft allegation [NSTTV]

PUTRAJAYA: A Tabung Haji senior management officer with the title “Datuk” has been remanded for four days to assist in a graft allegation involving a house renovation worth RM400,000.

Magistrate Shah Wira Abdul Halim granted the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)’s remand application for the 48-year-old Datuk, effective today until Saturday.

Sources said the Datuk was detained to assist in investigation over the said home renovation allegedly for his private residence.

It is learned the house renovation was an inducement to award the interior design company with a project worth RM15 million to rebrand TH branch offices.

The Datuk was detained by the graft busters last night while giving his statement at the MACC headquarters at about 8.35pm.

Last Sunday, the MACC had detained another TH senior officer with the title Datin. The 49-year-old woman was remanded for five days, starting from Dec 17 until this Friday (Dec 21).

Another arrest was made on Monday involving a 34-year-old project manager to assist in the probe over the same case and had been remanded for three days, effective Tuesday (Dec 18) until tomorrow (Dec 20).

On Nov 30, TH has lodged a police reports on the abuse of power allegedly committed by its senior officers.

It was reported that Federal Commercial Crime Investigation Department director, Datuk Seri Amar Singh Ishar Singh said the department had opened investigation papers under Section 420 and 409 of the Penal Code.

TH has lodged two police reports against its former chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim and two former chief executive officers Tan Sri Ismee Ismail and Datuk Seri Johan Abdullah.

TH has also named several other senior management officers – Datuk Adi Azuan (chief operating officer), Datuk Rozaida Omar (chief finance officer), Hazlina Mohd Khalid (legal adviser) and Rifina Md Ariff (senior general manager of Corporate Services and Real Estate).
