Disabled man jailed for house break-in [NSTTV]

IPOH: A disabled man sentenced to three years in prison by the Sessions Court here today after he pleaded guilty to breaking into a home in Parit on March 24.

The accused, Khairul Amri Ulul Azmi, 33, who lost his right foot during an accident in 2017, pleaded guilty after the charge was read to him before judge Azman Abu Hassan.

According to the charge sheet, Khairul Amri was charged with one count of breaking and entering with the intent to steal RM520 in cash, and a piggy bank containing coins.

He was also charged with stealing a Casio watch, three gold necklaces, three gold rings and a mobile phone. The items he stole were valued at about RM10,000.

He allegedly committed the offence at No 70, Kampung Telok Manis, Layang-Layang Kiri, Parit, at between 12am and 3pm on March 24.

The accused was facing a prison sentence of up to 14 years, a fine and whipping upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Afiqah Izzati Mazlan prosecuted the case while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.

According to the facts of the case, Khairul Amri, who works at an oil palm plantation, entered the home via an unlocked door before rummaging the house and making off with his loot.

After Khairul Amri's plea was recorded, Azman sentenced him to three years in prison and ordered his sentence to commence from the date of his arrest on April 2.
