11-year-old girl fakes own abduction to avoid Arabic language class

KLANG: An 11-year-old girl faked her own abduction to avoid attending Arabic language class in a religious school in Kapar, here.

The girl had related to her mother that she was almost kidnapped by eight men riding in two vans on Sept 7.

That prompted the girl’s mother to lodge a report at the Klang Utara district police headquarters.

However, investigations by the police six days later revealed that the girl’s supposedly harrowing ordeal was untrue.

The girl had admitted to cooking up the story, said Klang Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Nurulhuda Mohd Salleh.

“She had confessed that her abduction claims were untrue and it was deliberately made up to get the attention of her family.

“She was uninterested in attending the Arabic language class, which is an additional subject taught at the school,” said Nurulhuda.

A one-page handwritten note by the girl had gone viral on social media where she alleged that she was almost taken away by two men, with one of them wearing a mask.

The girl claimed that the attempt took place in front of the school and an elderly man had rescued her from being abducted.

Nurulhuda advised the public to be careful when sharing information on social media to avoid causing panic.

She added that it was an offence under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 to spread fake news.
