Suspect in murder of 'wrapped woman' surrenders to police

SHAH ALAM: A man suspected of murdering a woman, whose body was found wrapped in a blanket in Petaling Jaya last week, surrendered to police this morning.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat said the suspect gave himself up in Negri Sembilan.

“The 40-year-old suspect turned himself in at the Tampin district police headquarters at about 1.35am today (Sept 15).

“A remand order will be sought against him at the Petaling Jaya court at about 11am today,” he added.

On Wednesday, the body of Nor Hidayah Ahmad, 30, was found wrapped in a thick blanket at an apartment unit in Rampai Idaman, Prima Damansara.

Nor Hidayah’s body was discovered by her father at about 5.30pm when he dropped by the rented unit where she lived with her 6-year-old son.

The father’s suspicions were raised when he detected a rotting smell as he entered the unit.

Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zani Che Din said the blanketed body had been placed under a mattress and pile of pillows.

Police then launched a search for Nor Hidayah’s ex-husband from Johol, Negri Sembilan, to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
