Miri cops nab 3 men, seize RM300,000 worth of drugs

MIRI: Police have arrested three unemployed men and seized drugs worth RM300,000 during a raid at Luak Bay here on Sunday evening.

Sarawak Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Dev Kumar said acting on information, a team from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) raided the shophouse at 7.40pm.

"One of the suspects was weighing and packing the ecstasy pills when our men raided the premise," he told reporters here today.

The suspects, aged between 32 and 47-years-old tested positive for methamphetamine.

A total 4,044 pills believed to be ecstasy weighing 1,260 grams, ketamin (2,240 grams) and ketamin fruit juices (1,830 grams) were confiscated.

Apart from that, Dev Kumar said, police also found other items such as blenders, glass cylinders, weighing scales and plastic packaging.

"We also seized two vehicles, a necklace, luxury watch and cash.

The total value including drugs, is estimated at RM409,917, which is one of the biggest seizures so far," he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and all three suspects have been remanded for seven days beginning September 30.
