Three arrests made in seizure of drugs worth RM300,000

PENAMPANG: Three individuals — including a couple — were arrested with drugs valued at almost RM300,000 at two separate locations on Jan 24.

District police chief Superintendent Sammy Newton said the first suspect was apprehended at 1.30pm in Kampung Nambazan, here.

He said the suspect, who was driving a Perodua Bezza, was carrying a crystal weighing 38.22g believed to be syabu, and a dried plant believed to be ganja weighing 24.36g.

"The 31-year-old suspect admitted to being a drug dealer and was acting as a 'guardian' for the prohibited substances, along with another accomplice known as Eric.

"The suspect revealed that all the drugs were stored in a luxury condominium on Jalan Damai, Luyang," he said at a press conference here.

Sammy stated that, based on the suspect's information, the police raided the residence and arrested two more individuals.

"Further examination uncovered a black plastic bag containing eight transparent packages hidden inside a wardrobe.

"The estimated total weight of the seized drugs is 6,431.19g. The drugs and the arrested suspects were brought to the Penampang police headquarters," he said.

Sammy added that police also seized a Perodua Kelisa and Nissan Fairlady in the raid.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, together with Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the same act.
