Singaporean nabbed in connection to gruesome Melaka murder

MELAKA: Police have detained a Singaporean man believed to be involved in a gruesome murder case connected to the discovery of eight human body parts which were discarded into the bushes in the Krubong industrial area near here yesterday afternoon.

Melaka Police Chief Datuk Mat Kasim Karim said the suspect who was believed to be related to the victim was detained by the Singaporean authorities there today.

“An application for the warrant of arrest has been submitted to the Melaka Magistrate Court and efforts are being made to bring the suspect to Malaysia. Further investigations will be conducted after the remand order for the suspect is obtained,” he said in a media statement today.

Mat Kasim said based on police information, the victim was believed to have been killed in a double-storey terrace house in Taman Merdeka, which belonged to the suspect.

He said police had found blood stains in the downstairs bedroom of the house.

A grass cutter who was working along the shoulder of the main road at Kampung Ladang, near the Krubong industrial area here on Thursday stumbled upon eight separate human body parts strewn along his grass cutting route.

Following the 4pm find, the 37-year-old immediately lodged a police report at the Tanjung Minyak police station.

The human remains are thought to be at least five days old, and authorities have yet to establish whether they come from more than one individual.

“We have to await forensic analyses at the Melaka Hospital for conclusive details,” Melaka Tengah police chief Assistant Commissioner Afzanizar Ahmad said.

He added that police have classified the case as murder; and urged anyone with a missing family member or with information on the case to contact the nearest police station.
