Penang couple found dead, murder-suicide suspected

PRAI: A man was believed to have stabbed his wife to death before taking his own life at Taman Kimsar here this afternoon.

The couple's bodies were discovered by their 28-year-old son who went to their house before lodging a report at about 3pm.

State Criminal Investigations Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Rahimi Mohd Ra'ais said police are looking at possible jealousy as the motive of the incident.

"We believe a misunderstanding broke out between the couple, possibly due to jealousy.

"The 54-year-old wife was found with three stab wounds on her neck, chest and stomach in the bedroom while the 65-year-old man was found hanging in the kitchen," he said today.

Rahimi said a knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered at the scene.

He said further investigation into the case was ongoing.

"The couple was not working, and according to their son, the couple's children are the ones taking care of their parents. The children live nearby," he added.

The couple's remains were sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for post-mortem.

The case is probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
