Bentong cops to probe viral video on Genting kidnap claims

BENTONG: Police have launched an investigation into a video clip that has gone viral on social media claiming a child was almost kidnapped by a foreign woman at Genting Highlands near here.

District police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said the Genting Highlands security had lodged a police report regarding the TikTok video about 8.15pm yesterday.

"The police have not received any report from the individuals allegedly involved in the incident. We will contact the TikTok account owner to provide further details on the alleged incident.

"The public is advised not to speculate on the matter and give the police space to complete the investigation," he said in a statement today.

In the 80-second recording, the TikTok user, whose video had been widely shared on Facebook, claimed that a child was almost kidnapped by a foreigner at the popular holiday resort.

The video with the caption "risau sindiket culik anak kat Genting (worried about child kidnap syndicate in Genting)" had stirred uneasiness among netizens.
