Four suspects nabbed in connection with Machang murder

KOTA BARU: Police have arrested four men in connection with the gunning down of a wanted criminal in front of a workshop at Jalan Hutan Kuin, Machang, recently.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the four, aged between 25 to 36, were detained at separate locations in the state yesterday.

Police also seized two pistols from the four suspects, he said.

"The four suspects were known to the victim and they have been remanded for seven days beginning yesterday," he said.

Zaki said police have recorded statements from 25 individuals including the victim's friends and family members to assist with the case.

"The post-mortem result showed that the victim was shot seven times in a close range and some of the bullets hit his chest and head.

"Our investigation revealed that the victim who had 21 criminal records, might be involved in illegal activities which led to his murder," he added.

Zaki said police are still investigating the motive behind the murder.

The 38-year-old entrepreneur was shot dead in front of the workshop at about 5.45pm on Sunday.

The killers were reported to be in a white Honda vehicle and fired several shots at close range at the victim, who had been in the driver's seat of a pickup truck.
