KUALA LUMPUR: Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani, who was implicated in a recent controversial lewd clip, told the police today that 'Mr H' they called recently, was indeed the man who allegedly had him screen-record the video conversation.
Wahab, who is barely into his second month of employment with the Community Communications (J-KOM) Department, was at the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman yesterday.
However, he did not lodge a police report as he said he would on Nov 17 over the allegedly "doctored" video.
Wahab's lawyer, Faizal Rahman said that the J-KOM staff is not ready to lodge a police report as he still grapples with depression, and will do so in one or two days.
"Wahab will lodge a police report as the complainant in one or two days," he added, without clarifying the time and place where Wahab will lodge the police report.
Faizal said the police took three hours to record Wahab's statement beginning at 10.50 am today.
Faizal also gave the media an update on Wahab's mental health, saying the latter is not ready to speak to the press and is still taking medication.
When asked about the interrogation, Faizal simply said Wahab only needed to confirm the identity of Mr H and nothing further.
Earlier today, it was reported that the police will take Wahab's statement in the afternoon after his previous scheduled meeting was postponed as the latter was grappling with depression.
Previously, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain had urged Wahab to step forward and help with the investigation by identifying and confirming the role of 'Mr H' in the allegedly "doctored" lewd conversation between him and former J-KOM director-general Datuk Dr Mohammad Agus Yusoff.
Agus and Wahab also held a press conference and were grilled by the media for at least an hour, in an attempt to justify their position.
During the press conference, Agus confirmed the authenticity of the video but claimed the audio was "doctored" by a person, believed to be a senior officer in J-KOM, with the moniker "Mr H", who allegedly masterminded a plot to defame him.
Agus said he and his lawyers had lodged a police report and since then, the authorities had called five witnesses including him, blogger Che'gu Bard or Badrul Hisham Shaharin, Mr H, hotel staff where the press conference was held, and recently, Wahab himself.
Hours before the video went viral, Agus had resigned as the J-KOM director-general after 10 months since he was appointed.
