#NSTviral: Selangor MB sets example, swiftly pays parking fine via online payment

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has recently exemplified a commitment to upholding the law by promptly settling a parking fine issued by the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ).

Utilising his official X (formerly known as Twitter) account, Amirudin shared the incident, recounting that he received an SMS notification regarding the parking offense, complete with a direct payment link.

In a testament to the efficiency of online payment systems introduced by local governments in Selangor since 2019, Amirudin highlighted that the entire payment process took him less than five minutes.

He advised Malaysians to follow suit and click on the provided link in the SMS instead of attempting to use connections to evade fines.

"Remember... If you receive a summons notice, click, don't call the Mayor to request a waiver." he wrote.

The X post garnered comments from many Malaysians, including from MBSJ itself.

"Thank you YAB Datuk Seri @AmirudinShari for the compound payment ." said @SJcitycouncil.

One commenter, @Jaiyen_nakal said: ""Nowadays, paying for parking is not as cumbersome as it used to be. In the past, one had to walk around to find shops selling parking coupons or locate parking payment machines to get a ticket. After returning to the office, if you needed to extend the payment, you had to go back down again.

"Nowadays, it's much more convenient with parking apps. Continuing the payment is just a matter of tapping on the app."
