Shooting in Klang: Man survives attempted hit

KUALA LUMPUR: A 46-year-old man survived multiple gunshots in an attempted hit in Kapar, Klang Utara yesterday.

Klang Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner S. Vijaya Rao said the man, a security manager, was shot by an unknown assailant.

He suffered injuries to his right hand, ribs, and right shoulder. He is in stable condition and is being treated at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Klang.

Closed-circuit television recordings show the victim was shot at close range by a suspect in a black vehicle.

"So far, five local men between the ages of 40 to 45 have been arrested to assist in investigations," Vijaya said in a statement, adding the motive behind the shooting was still being determined.

The case is being probed under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
