Two Kelantan RTD officers, one prisons dept and one health dept officer among 978 nabbed in anti-drug operations

KOTA BARU: Two Kelantan Road Transport Department (RTD) officers and one officer from the Prisons Department and Health Department respectively, were among 978 individuals nabbed by the police in a series of anti-drug operations statewide recently.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the four were arrested separately in Machang, Pasir Mas and Gua Musang between March 2 and 10.

He added the RTD officers were arrested for possessing of ketum juice while the other two officers were caught with methaphetamine pills.

"The two RTD officers tested negative for drugs, while the other two tested postive.

"The four have been remanded to assist police investigations," he told a Press conference here today.

Zaki said the other individuals who were detained in the operation codenamed Ops Tapis Khas, were from various backgrounds including one student.

"The 978 comprised 884 locals and 94 foreigners, aged 15 to 91.

"During the operation, police also seized various types of drugs worth nearly RM380,000.

"We also sealed properties, and seized jewelleries and cash valued about RM70,000," he added.

Zaki said the Form Four student was nabbed in Kuala Krai with 20 methamphetamine pills.

"The 16-year-old student who is also drug addict, was arrested at a house in Kuala Krai on March 4.

"He was the first student who was arrested for drug abuse this year," he added.
