Indonesian family gets beaten up at bus stop

AMPANG JAYA: A family of three was injured after being beaten by a fellow Indonesian man over a misunderstanding at a bus stop in Taman Kosas, here, last Wednesday.

Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said in the incident at 2.30pm, the Indonesian woman, 27, was at the bus stop opposite Jalan 1/5, Taman Kosas.

He said the 39-year-old suspect then arrived carrying an iron rod and hit the woman, her 24-year-old sister, and their 56-year-old mother.

According to him, as a result of the beating, they suffered injuries to their heads, faces, and hands.

"Subsequently, at 3.45pm, a police team from the Ampang Jaya police headquarters' Criminal Investigation Division arrested the suspect, who is also a shop assistant in Taman Kosas, and seized his weapon.

"Further checks found that the suspect did not have any past criminal records. Urine tests conducted found him negative for drug abuse," he said in a statement today.

He said the suspect was remanded for four days starting last Thursday until tomorrow.

"The motive of the incident is due to a work dispute between the victims and the suspect.

"The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code," he said.
