PASIR GUDANG: A 33-year-old man died after he was allegedly beaten up by a friend in a fight in front of a restaurant in Taman Scientex here on Sunday.
The 33-year-old victim was engaged in a an argument which turned violent with his friend, aged 29, which likely stemmed from a personal issue in the 4.15pm incident.
Seri Alam district police chief Superintendent Sohaimi Ishak said initial checks showed that one of the men had hurled ome foul words on the other and this caused the argument to escalate.
"The fight began with this verbal tirade but and it turned violent when the friend allegedly beat him.
"He was allegedly beaten up with a helmet and the victim lost his balance before fainting in front of the restaurant. The victim was confirmed dead after authorities arrived at the scene following a complaint lodged by members of the public.
"We are also waiting for the post mortem analysis report," he said in a statement today.
Sohaimi said following the incident, the police nabbed the suspect in his rented house located not far from where it happened.
The suspect has been remanded for a week since yesterday to facilitate investigations under Section 302 for murder.
"Initial investigations showed the suspect has six records related to drug and crime," he said.
