Mother who slashed toddler's throat gave doughnuts for iftar just day before: Neighbour

PASIR GUDANG: The mother who allegedly slashed her toddler to death yesterday, had visited neighbours' homes with her husband and their only child to give out doughnuts as an iftar meal a day before the incident.

A neighbour who spoke on anonymity admitted to being quite shocked by the incident involving the one-and-a-half-year-old victim in their residential area in Taman Cahaya Masai, here.

"They as a family had given doughnuts to our family and other neighbours.

"Previously, my neighbour was okay and would greet us when we met. The woman was also often seen taking her child out for walks," he said, also noting that he had never seen or heard the baby cry or the couple argue in their home.

Earlier, the media reported a woman believed to have slashed her baby boy's neck before sending a picture of the bloodied victim to her husband via WhatsApp yesterday.

Johor police chief Commissioner M Kumar was quoted as saying they received a report around 1.30pm regarding the case in a residential area near Pasir Gudang.

Following that, a 32-year-old local suspect was arrested for further investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
