JOHOR BARU: The family of Mohamad Thaqif Amin Mohd Gaddafi tonight said they are surprised but grateful that police have decided to investigate the case as murder.
"Really, it is going to be investigated as murder?" Thafiq's aunt, Dzuraidah Ahmad, 38, responded when told about Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar's latest tweet.
Khalid reportedly said that police would be getting the full medical report from the hospital and complete their investigation soon.
"We didn't expect it, but we feel it is justified," she added.
Meanwhile, Sarina Mohd Khalid, 41, who was met at the mortuary, said she could not believe that Thafiq had passed away.
A neighbour with the family for more than eight years now, Sarina said her son, Mohd Irfan Mustafa, nine, and Thafiq were football buddies.
"When I visited him at the ward earlier and saw him lying there with both his legs gone, I felt so sad. I remembered how much he loved to play football with the neighbourhood children." she said.
