Domino effect: Lorry crashes in bus causing 4 vehicles pile-up

SEBERANG JAYA: A container lorry driver sustained minor bodily injuries in a crash involving the lorry, a bus and two cars today.

The incident happened at Km136 of the North South Expressway near here at about 9am.

Seberang Prai Selatan district police chief Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said the accident happened when the driver of the container lorry allegedly lost control of his wheel and knocked into a bus.

He said the impact of the crash pushed the bus forward and knock into a Perodua MyVi before the MyVi inched forward and knocked into another multi-purpose vehicle.

“The bus driver, along with the 36 Chinese passengers on board, escaped unhurt. The drivers of the other two cars were also not injured.

“The container lorry driver sustained minor bodily injuries,” he said, adding that the lorry was carrying food items from Shah Alam to its factory in Butterworth when the accident took place.

The case is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules LN166/59.
