Climber feared missing at Mount Tambuyukon, Sabah

RANAU: A local climber is feared to have gone missing while scaling Mount Tambuyukon here, yesterday afternoon.

District Fire and Rescue Department chief Jimmy Lagung said they were informed of the development by the Sabah Parks authority at 8am today.

“We were told that a local man, identified as Alan Chong Yun Kiong, 31, may have lost his way during the climb.

"We have yet to receive detailed information about the incident.

“However we have sent our team to the location for a search and rescue operation,” he said.

Mount Tambuyukon is reportedly Malaysia's third highest mountain at 2,579-metres (8,462 ft). It is situated close to the world-renowned Mount Kinabalu.
