Worker electrocuted while cleaning KTM Sentul station; suffers 80% burns

KUALA LUMPUR: A cleaning supervisor suffered 80 per cent burns when he was electrocuted while cleaning the platform of KTM’s Sentul station this morning.

Suhadi Muhtadi, 47, from Cheras, was electrocuted by loose electric cables as he was cleaning the platform using an aluminium stick at 9.40am. It is understood that he was attempting to clean bird droppings from the floor during the incident.

A 13-second video of the victim lying on the platform as he was aided by medical officers has since gone viral on social media.

"Current flow may have passed through the victim as he was using an aluminium stick.

But KTM is investigating the real cause of the incident," a Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad spokesman said.

The victim is currently being treated at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
