Massive congestion at Johor-Singapore Causeway catches motorists off guard

JOHOR BARU: Motorists heading towards Singapore were caught in massive congestion at the Johor-Singapore Causeway as the Singapore authorities conducted thorough checks at the Woodlands custom, immigration and quarantine (CIQ) checkpoint.

State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department deputy chief Deputy Superintendent Ibrahim Mat Som said the action by the Singaporean authorities resulted in a traffic congestion since about noon and which had spread until Jalan Tebrau.

"The police are monitoring the situation and motorists are advised to be patient and to follow all the instruction from the police," said Ibrahim.

However, the traffic from Singapore to Johor Baru were not affected.
