[UPDATE] Lorry flips, crushes Viva, killing woman in horrific Kuala Perlis crash

KANGAR: A 33-year-old woman was killed when the Perodua Viva she was travelling in, was crushed by a lorry transporting stones, which flipped on its side after crashing into four other cars.

The victim, Siti Masturah Azmi, who was pinned to the seat, died on the spot in the horrific accident on the Changlun-Kuala Perlis trunk road at noon today.

It is believed that the lorry driver had lost the control of his vehicle upon approaching the traffic lights at junction before it crashed into a Proton Exora.

The lorry then slammed into three other cars parked in front of a restaurant before flipping on its side, crushing the rear of the Perodua Viva.

Three other people who were injured in the incident were rushed to the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital here.

Kuala Perlis Fire and Rescue Department station officer Marshahadi Mehad said they were called to the scene to extricate the victim’s body from the mangled car.

Kangar police chief Superintendent Wari Kiew said the 55-year-old lorry driver has been detained to facilitate the investigation.
