One killed, one seriously hurt in two-lorry Rembau collision

REMBAU: A container lorry driver was killed when his vehicle rear-ended another lorry transporting timber at Km232 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) here today.

Abd Rahim Mohd Baron, 48, died at the scene from severe head and body injuries in the incident which occurred at 6.15am near the Linggi Pedas toll plaza.

Rembau Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohd Fuad Majid said eight personnel and a fire engine were dispatched to the scene.

"Upon arrival, we found the 48-year-old lorry driver and his conductor pinned by their heads to their seats.

"We immediately (extricated) the victims from the vehicle. (But) the lorry driver (died).

“His body was sent to the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital for a post mortem," he said.

Mohd Fuad added that the conductor, who sustained serious injuries, was sent to the same hospital for further treatment.
