NILAI: A makeshift building to store carpets was destroyed in a fire at Jalan Nilai 3/6, Nilai 3 Industrial Area here at midnight.
Nilai Fire and Rescue Services senior officer Lias Amat said four fire engines which include from Mantin fire station were despatched to the scene as soon as a distress call was received at 12.52 am.
The 16 firemen arrived 10 minutes later as the fire razed the store house which was made up of zinc and plywood.
"We took 15 minutes to prevent the fire from spreading to other nearby buildings and the fire was fully extinguished an hour later."
The carperts in the store however were totally destroyed.
He said the department was still investigating the cause of the fire as well as the cost of damages.
