PM launches KL International Arts Festival 2017

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today launched the 'KL International Arts Festival 2017' (KLIAF2017) in efforts to promote local and foreign cultural appreciation.

The festival, which is slated to be held at various spots across the Klang Valley including the Kuala Lumpur City Hall Auditorium and the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station, will feature dances, poetry recitals and mini concerts, among others.

More than 50 performances are set to colour the stage with troupes from around the globe including France, Italy, Japan and Argentina.

Najib, who was accompanied by wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor at the launch, were treated to a showcase of performances by Malaysia's Aswara zapin troupe and Argentina's 12-men Che Malambo ensemble.

Festival director Datin Sunita Rajakumar said performances would feature acclaimed and up-and-coming artistes.

"We have curated this year's programme for everyone. The festival aims to bring people together to celebrate arts in all its diversity."

KLIAF2017 was first launched in 2017 as a major annual international arts and culture exhibition.
