SANDAKAN: A septuagenarian was killed and another woman severely injured when they were struck by a car while crossing the road.
The car, which was driven by a 73-year-old woman, hit the duo at Taman Grandview phase one at Jalan Buli Sim Sim here at about 5.30pm yesterday.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azhar Hamin said the deceased was identified as Ommai Jurail, 72, who was pronounced dead at hospital.
“Another victim, Fadilah Saibil, 54, is critically injured, while the driver is unhurt.
“Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” Mohd Azhar added.
