Doctor's death: Health Ministry awaiting post-mortem report

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry is awaiting a post-mortem report on the body of a doctor who was found dead in his rented room in Kampung Nyior Sepohon, Terengganu.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said it was now up to the police to conduct further investigations.

“The body was found in a decomposed state. Therefore, we have to wait for a post-mortem report,” he told reporters at the National Tamil Education Figures (Tokoh) Awards Ceremony.

The body of Dr Mohd Muaz Mohd Sabri, 29, who was attached to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) was found on the bed at 10.40pm by the owner’s son who had opened the room door, surprised that the deceased had not gone out of the house for several days.

In another development, Subramaniam who is also MIC president confirmed that an MIC division chief who allegedly sexually harassed a teenager in return for aid and employment has been expelled from the party with immediate effect.

MIC Treasurer Datuk Seri S. Vell Paari said yesterday that he had an audio recording that exposed the man’s attempt to convince a mother to allow her daughter to have sex with him in return for getting her a job.

Earlier, the MIC together with the Education Ministry held a National Tamil Education Award Ceremony in appreciation of services of teachers in upholding the Tamil language in schools.
