32 people stranded on Penang's Bukit Bendera since Saturday: Police

GEORGE TOWN: Thirty two people have been left stranded on Bukit Bendera since Saturday, following the widespread flooding and landslides which ravaged the state.

"20 adults, 10 senior citizens and two children are (up) there.

“We will try to bring them down through the hiking trail," northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Omar said in a statement today.

It is not known how the group made their way up the hill, or if they made a distress call.

It was earlier reported that the Bukit Bendera management had suspended its operations after several landslides took place following Saturday’s downpour.
