Embrace changes that will come with TN50 - KJ

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians should be open about change if they want to see successful implementation of aspirations presented in the National Transformation 2050 (TN50).

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said change should come through the mindset, behaviour and attitude of the people.

“So we must start now in order to see all these changes,” he said after meeting top leaders Prasarana Malaysia Berhad and the government linked company’s appointed TN50 ambassadors.

Khairy said todate nearly 80,000 aspirations and views of the people for the TN50 has been collected by the ministry since it was announced in October last year. The ministry had also engaged with about 1.5 million youth through a face-to-face interactions as well as online.

He said that among the biggest aspiration of the people which he believe will be included in the TN50 youth aspiration report and the final policy document which will be announced by the Prime Minister next year concern the sustainability development.

Khairy also announced collaboration between the ministry and the Prasarana in the effort to further educate the public on the TN50 as well as in collecting the aspirations of the people, particularly those who commute via public transport managed by Prasarana subsidiary companies.

Earlier during the engagement Khairy said a zero ticket system using facial recognition can be applied in the country’s public transport as suggested by the people through the TN50 campaign.

“I agree with the zero ticket system using facial recognition. This is not a technology that we have to wait any longer. It is already invented,” he said while showing off his Iphone X mobile.

Prasarana Group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Azmi Abdul Aziz said they will consider applying the facial recognition technology.

“We know that facial recognition is being use in some major airports in the world to identify certain individual such as those in the authorities’ wanted list for instance.

“But implementation in public transport is not there yet. We know it is being developed right now and once it is ready, that is when we will see how we can introduce the system here in Malaysia.

“The aspiration of using the bus and train without using any ticket is real. It is just a matter of time,” he said.

Azmi said that a total of 44 of its RapidKL busses including two double-decker and two train of the Kelana Jaya Line LRT will bear the TN50 advertisement to further promote the campaign.
