'Kayuhan Amal Palestin' attracts over 200 cyclists in Pasir Putih

PASIR PUTIH: More than 200 cyclists here took part in today’s "Kayuhan Amal Palestin" programme, which was organised by Umno’s Pasir Putih division.

Participants of the 40km race were flagged off by Pasir Putih Umno chief Datuk Zawawi Othman at 10am.

According to Zawawi, the programme was organised to protest against the United States’ move to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

"We also launched a drive fund to collect money for the Al-Aqsa mosque. We expect to raise some RM20,000 from today's event," he told reporters here.

Jointly organised with the district youth council and Masjid Ibrahimi committee members, the race began at the mosque and passed several major landmarks, including the Cherang Ruku police station and Tok Bali, before ending back at the mosque at noon.

Zawawi said money collected for the fund will be handed over to the Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Yadim).
