KINABATANGAN: A man was killed in a collision between a three-ton lorry and a trailer lorry at Kampung Suan Lamba here on Saturday.
The deceased was travelling as a passenger in the three-ton lorry when the 9pm incident occurred.
It is learnt that the driver of the trailer lorry lost control of his vehicle and rammed into the three-ton lorry, which was parked by the roadside.
The impact caused serious damage to the three-ton lorry, and its two occupants were pinned to their seats.
In a statement, the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department said four firefighters were despatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 9.27pm.
“There were two victims in the three-ton lorry. The driver escaped injured, but his passenger was seriously hurt.
“Firefighters (managed to extricate) the passenger from the wreckage,” it said.
However, paramedics who rushed to the scene confirmed the victim’s death shortly after.
