Umno Youth wants cops to investigate Dr M over efforts to oust Najib

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth today lodged a police report calling for efforts by opposition leader Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to depose Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak through unlawful means to be investigated.

The report was lodged at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters here by Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafi, who was accompanied by Umno Youth deputy chief Khairul Azwan Harun.

Khairul Azwan said the report was based on media reports, where various statements made by the former prime minister had hinted of his intentions to overthrow Najib.

He cited this as a threat to the nation's economy and political stability, leading the Youth wing to demand for Dr Mahathir to be investigated.

"There were even reports quoting Dr Mahathir mentioning that he wanted to bring down Najib, thus instigating the public to go against the PM," said Khairul Azwan.

"Various efforts and moves made by Dr Mahathir also clearly point to his obsession in making his son Datuk Seri Mukhriz as the prime minister."

Asked which specific instances investigations should be based on, Khairul Azwan said documents and evidence had been handed to the police for that purpose, and declined to elaborate further.

On another note, Khairul Azwan said Dr Mahathir's reference of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) members who had left the party as "rubbish" again showed his dictatorial leadership of the party.

"Of course again, members could see that their purpose is only to defame the government and then serve to make Mukhriz the prime minister. Those who speak out face his wrath.

"This is a true dictator, so people will leave his party. When they do, he calls them rubbish," said Khairul Azwan.
