Kedah can offer gateway into Asia for Hungarian businesses

ALOR STAR: Kedah could offer various investment opportunities for Hungarian businesses seeking a gateway into Asia.

Hungarian Ambassador to Malaysia Attilla Kali, who arrived for a two-day working visit to the state, said Kedah has many investment potentials especially in agriculture, automotive industry and also water management.

“My visit to the state is to have a better understanding of suitable business opportunities that Hungarian investors can explore in Kedah.

“I am also here raise the level of awareness among state investors on areas that they can explore in Hungary,” he told reporters.

He earlier attended a briefing by Kedah state government investment arm – Kedah Invest - general manager Nor Ehsan Abdul Aziz.

Also present was the embassy’s economic affairs office head Dr Emilia Fabian.

Attilla said another area which the Hungarian company is also interested in investing in is in healthcare, including in medical equipment and hospital information systems.

On a similar note, Attilla, who also paid a courtesy call on Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah today, was also briefed on the general cooperation that can be established between Hungary and Kedah.

He said the trade relationship between Malaysia and Hungary has improved steadily since nine months ago.

Hungary reopened its embassy in Malaysia in 2015.

Attilla is also scheduled to have an audience with Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Sultan Badlishah tomorrow.
