KUANTAN: Paya Besar member of parliament Datuk Seri Abdul Manan Ismail, 69, died at Taman Melawati in Kuala Lumpur today.
His brother Datuk Seri Muhammad Safian Ismail said Manan is believed to have suffered a heart attack before falling down in the bathroom.
Safian, who is also the Pahang State Secretary, said Manan died at 6.45pm.
"The family is still discussing the funeral arrangements and deciding if he will be buried in Kuala Lumpur or Kuantan," he said.
Manan, who is also the Paya Besar Umno division chairman and
Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) chairman, beat PKR candidate Murnie Hidayah Anuar and independant candidate Zahari Mamat with a majority of 7,715 votes during the 13th General Election.
Manan, who has been the Paya Besar member of parliament since 2008, also once served as the private secretary to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
