Two primary school students badly injured in motorcycle-car crash

Dungun: Two students were injured after being hit by a car at Km7.8 Jalan Paka-Al Muktaffi Billah Shah (AMBS), opposite to SK Santong Paka, this morning.

In the accident, which took place around 7.20am, two siblings, Muhammad Salahuddin Mohd Nasir, 12, and Najwa Adawiyah Abdul Nasir, 11, were severely injured in the head.

Their mother, Noor Azizah Talib, 48, who was riding a Modenas CT 100 motorcycle, suffered minor injuries.

The incident is believed to have occurred when Noor Azizah was sending the children to school.

It is believed that she was making a U-turn when a Perodua Alza car, driven by Mohd Shahrul Muin Mamat Ismail, 26, crashed into the rear of the motorcycle.

The three on the motorcycle were thrown off the machine. They were then rushed to the Dungun Hospital.

District police chief Superintendent Baharudin Abdullah, when contacted, confirmed the incident.

According to him, another accident took place at the same location on Sept 20, 2016. It involved a student, Muhammad Syamil Harun, 10, who was killed after a car crashed into the boy as he was crossing the road to get to school.

"I appeal to all drivers to slow down when approaching school areas to avoid similar incidents from happening again in the future," he said.
