#Gegaria Fest a roaring success, as Kuantan leg turnout soars beyond expectations

KUANTAN: The third leg of Media Prima Bhd’s inaugural lifestyle and entertainment carnival, #Gegaria Fest, received a response that exceeded expectations here today.

The opening event of the extravaganza alone – a zumba session at 8.30am – attracted a record-breaking 800 participants.

Media Prima Bhd group managing director Datuk Kamal Khalid is especially pleased with the huge turnout, considering that the promotion campaign for the Kuantan event was shorter than that of the two previous legs in Shah Alam, Selangor (on Jan 13) and Johor Baru, Johor (on Feb 3).

He also noted that the carnival attracted people from a wide social spectrum, from youths to families, who were eager to participate in the one-day event.

"Media Prima organised the event to promote entertainment-based activities by inviting popular artistes. Various agencies, including the Employees' Provident Fund and the Election Commission also set up their booths here to serve the public.

"The event is also aimed at drawing youth to participate in nationhood-related activities,

including the Throwback Tunnel, which showcases the New Straits Times Press' rare collection of archive images," he told reporters here today.

Kamal said that based on the response to the three legs of #Gegaria Fest, Media Prima is mulling organising the event in other Peninsular Malaysian states in the future.

"If there is an opportunity, we will continue the Gegaria carnival this year and will utilise the experience gained from these three (legs) to improve. There are certain parts that need to be improved, but so far, the support we received has been tremendous," Kamal added.
