MIRI: A British tourist died this morning after falling from Mount Mulu here last night.
Nigel Bevan, 50, sustained serious head injuries in the 9.07pm incident along the ‘Pinnacle Trail.
A Mulu Park search and rescue (SAR) team managed to bring the victim down to Camp 5, and the department’s air unit team based here rushed him to the Miri Hospital for further treatment.
“The victim was already unconscious when being brought down at 2.28am,” Miri Fire and Rescue chief Law Poh Kiong said.
Earlier, Marudi Police district Superintendent Gabriel Risut said he could not elaborate on the case, as the incident was initially reported by Mulu World Heritage Park manager Hein Gerstner via email to Sarawak Fire and Rescue assistant director (Operations) Tiong Ling Hii in Kuching. – Bernama
