TANAH MERAH: Teachers and those in the education sector should give their full support to the Government in the upcoming 14th General Election (GE14).
Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said this is to ensure that their welfare remained under good care.
“The Government has never neglected the wellbeing of all teachers in this country.
“This will ensure that they are always successful in their careers which is important for their future just as it is important for the govenrment to succeed in the upcoming GE14.
“This GE14 is not an issue on an individual or personal matters but more on the power to specify policies,” he said at the groundbreaking ceremony of Tanah Merah integration boarding school here today.
Speaking to reporters later, Mahdzir who would be contesting at the Padang Terap Parliament constituency said he believed that DAP would bring its ‘Malaysian Malaysia’ motto if the opposition wins GE14.
“DAP has been saying this since the 1960s and I could not understand how Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and other opposition parties believeDAP,” said Mahdzir.
On the project which cost about RM65.5 million, he said it was the first to be set up in Tanah Merah and is expected to became a landmark in the district.
“The boarding school which is expected to start construction end of the year will accomodate about 700 students and will be completed in three years,” he said.
Also present at the function were Kelantan Education director Mohamad Zahari Othman and Tanah Merah Umno chief Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz.
