Over 1,000 buyers to get house keys for Taman Halaman Indah project soon - Zuraida (NSTTV)

NIBONG TEBAL: After a six-year wait, more than 1,000 house buyers will soon be able to move into their units in Taman Halaman Indah, a housing project which suffered delays due to various issues by the developer.

Housing and Local Government Minister, Zuraida Kamaruddin, said the Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP) would carry out the final inspection on May 31 before a Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) could be issued and house keys handed to the buyers.

“The completion of this project had been delayed for a long time and was a cause for concern among buyers. The buyers will be able to move in soon after the due process is carried out,” she told reporters after attending a two-hour discussion with representatives of the developer and buyers today.

The housing project has 1,138 terrace house units including 460 low-cost houses and 70 commercial units priced between RM42,000 and RM250,000.

The project, which was due to complete in 2012, hit a snag due to issue including changing of dvelopers, as well as land and financial problems.

Zuraida said the developer had agreed to pay late delivery fee to the buyers based on the outcome of the discussion with both parties.

She said a total of 170 applications for the low-cost houses had been approved, while 290 others would be reviewed.

“We will waive the legal fees for the convenient of the buyers. They can get their house keys after settling the necessary process including payment for the stamp duty,” she said.

Meanwhile, the housing project buyers’ association adviser, Mohd Fairuz Abdul Razak, 35, said various steps were taken to ensure the delivery of the units.

“The project was completed, but did not follow specifications set by the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) and Indah Water.

“The sick project had been delayed for five to six years and this has burdened the buyers,” he said – BERNAMA
