Mat Sabu dismisses three fake news about him

KUALA LUMPUR: Mohamad Sabu said a viral story that he had refused to use the official government vehicle provided to him on his first day as Defence Minister was nothing but fake news.

He said pictures had been circulated that he would rather move about in his son’s Perodua Viva instead of using the official car which was provided to him.

“There were also claims that I had refused the police escort that was provided.

“All this is not true..I accept all the privileges accorded to a minister but nothing more than that,” he said, adding he would also not misuse his position for personal benefits.

Mohamad, who is popularly known as Mat Sabu also dismissed a whatsapp message which had been viralled alleging that a campaign to fund a new car for Mat Sabu had been initiated.

He said people should not be taken in by the message as no such fund had been launched.

He also clarified that another picture that had been viralled showing Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali breaking fast at his residence was actually taken last year.

"The couple had dropped by my house for dinner last year,” he said in a statement.

Mohamad said all future news concerning him would be issued only through his official Facebook and Twitter accounts; Mohamad Sabu - Menteri Pertahanan Malaysia and @MSabu_Official, respectively or through his Instagram account @msabu_official.
