Two sisters killed, mother seriously injured in Beaufort accident

BEAUFORT: Two girls died, three were severely injured and a boy suffered minor injuries in a car accident at Kampung Lingkungan, Jalan Beaufort-Sipitang here.

During the 5.45pm incident yesterday, Nur Awliya Qairina Jaidi, 4, and her one-year-old sister Nur Nadeera Yara died while receiving treatment at the Sipitang Hospital.

It was learnt their mother, 32, was seriously injured while the father, who works at the Traffic Enforcement and Investigation department in Bukit Aman, suffered minor injuries.

Also in the car were a 3-year-old boy who was injured and his 69-year-old grandmother who was severely hurt.

All injured victims were receiving treatment at the Sipitang Hospital.

The family was spending their holiday at their hometown here and were expected to return to Kuala Lumpur today.

Meanwhile, both male driver and passenger of another car, were also severely injured and were admitted to the same hospital.

It was learnt that the driver of the Perodua Bezza had lost control of the car and collided with the vehicle in which the family of six were travelling.

District police chief deputy Superintendent Azmir Abd Razak confirmed the incident and said investigation was ongoing.
