Missing seven-year-old found electrocuted

SANDAKAN: The body of a seven-year-old boy who went missing since Tuesday, was found in bushes yesterday with signs of electrocution.

The immigrant boy last seen Tuesday morning playing outside his squatter home behind Bandar Lee Tat here, was found at Lorong 9 nearby at 2pm yesterday.

The body had shown signs of bloating when found, said district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azhar Hamin.

He said police received a report at 6.30pm on the day of the child's disappearance but could not trace the victim.

A team was sent to the location after being alerted of the discovery, along with a fire and rescue team, Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) staff and medical personnel from the Duchess of Kent district hospital.

"Inspection found burnt marks on the left foot (sole) and the family of the victim has made identification.

"Further investigation found no criminal element or other injuries on the victim's body," he added.

Mohd Azhar said the remains were sent to the hospital for autopsy and the case has been classified as sudden death.
