Missing 17-year-old girl found dead in ditch

SUNGAI BESAR: The body of a 17-year-old girl who has been missing for eight days was found in a ditch along Jalan Klang-Teluk Intan here last night.

The girl was found some 30 metres from a Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle she is believed to have been riding.

It is understood that the girl's body was found by a passing motorist who alerted the authorities.

Sabak Bernam District Police Chief, Superintendent Agus Salim Mohd Alias said a missing person's report was lodged just after midnight on Feb 27 by the victim's mother.

The victim had left her home at 8.20pm on Feb 25 to collect her salary from a cafe in the Sultan Idris Shah Polytechnic in Sungai Air Tawar using her sister's motorcycle.

"The last time the victim's mother contacted her was at 3am and she (victim) did not inform her of her whereabouts," Agus Salim said when contacted today.

Subsequent calls to the victim were unsuccessful.

Agus Salim said investigations indicate the teenager was travelling from Sekinchan to Sabak Bernam. She is believed to have lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into the ditch.

"The victim died on the spot and her remains have been brought to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Jemaah in Sabak Bernam for post-mortem."

Earlier, a social media post about the missing teenager went viral, with many netizens praying for her safety.
