UCSI students visit orphanage

KUALA LUMPUR: Seventeen students of UCSI University took time off their busy schedule between classes and assignments by visiting Pusat Kebajikan Damai Cempaka at Jalan Sungai Besi recently.

The students, of different faculties and courses, made their way to the orphanage right after their classes on July 6.

Leader of the students group Adrian Chin said the visit was aimed at raising awareness towards the underprivileged community.

While at the orphanage, the students conducted various activities for the children; handcraft and followed by an outdoor activity namely bricks game where the students and the children were separated into three teams and required to cross through the designated path only with the aid of newspaper.

After a dinner treat, the children and students proceeded to the second handcraft activity; crane origami.

“We were gifted with paper cranes made by the children themselves after the activity as a gift of appreciation before the students put up a spontaneous performance and helped with the cleaning up of the orphanage.

“It was out of our expectation that the children were all excited for our visit,” said Chin.

The prize giving ceremony followed right after where the winning team of the bricks game was rewarded with a food hamper sponsored by the students group.

The visit ended with group photo session with the children as well as the helpers and founder of the orphanage.
