Next-of-kin of Malaysian found dead in Kabul informed, says Wisma Putra

PUTRAJAYA: The next-of-kin of a Malaysian who was found dead in Kabul, Afghanistan, has been informed by his employer, said Wisma Putra today.

It said the victim’s employer Sodexo, a French company based in Afghanistan, had informed the son who was staying in the Philippines.

“The Malaysian High Commission in New Delhi, India, is working closely with the victim’s employer by extending necessary consular assistance,” it said in a statement.

Wisma Putra added the identity of the Malaysian was verified by the Afghanistan authorities on Thursday (Aug 2), but his identity was not released to the press.

The Malaysian was reported to have been shot dead with two others outside the Afghan capital on Thursday after they were kidnapped during their morning commute.

The two other victims were Indian and Macedonian nationals.

The three bodies were found in the back seat of an abandoned car in the Musahi district of the Kabul Province.

All three were catering workers with Sodexo, a global food services company which worked for several international organisations in Kabul.

Wisma Putra also extended its condolences to the victim’s family and next-of-kin.
