KUDAT: A septuagenarian from Kampung Torongkongan here was believed to have died from suffocation after he was trapped in a fire at a farm.
Mongulin Jumahil was found by villagers after the fire was put out at about 12.30pm.
It was learned the fire also spread to about 10 acres of forest area nearby.
District fire and rescue chief Ishak Jabas said they sent 10 personnel and two fire engines to the location upon receiving a call from at 12.34pm.
“When the personnel arrived, a man was found dead believed to be due to inhalation of smoke from the fire that occured at the deceased’s farm.
“(At press time), they are still putting out fire at the forest to ensure no further casualty,” he said when contacted.
The body was handed over to police for further action.
